Dr. Bao Nguyen completed his PhD in Integrative Biology and Pharmacology at Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center -Houston (UTHSC-H) and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in 2006. Next, he was admitted to and graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO in 2010 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UTHSC-H in 2013. He then joined the Los Angeles County and University of Southern California (LAC-USC) and completed his Rheumatology fellowship in 2015. During his fellowship at LAC-USC, he assisted in the department clinical research trials and conducted his own research under the supervision of Dr. David A. Horwitz. His work entitled “Changes in Serum Albumins Correlate Highly with Sererity and Activity of SLE” was accepted and presented during a poster session of the annual meeting of the American College of Rheumatology 2015. Dr. Bao Nguyen is board certified in Internal Medicine 2013 and Rheumatology 2015. He moved back to his family and community in Houston after his fellowship training. With a shortage of rheumatology care in the area, he found the Houston Comprehensive Rheumatology, P.A. to practice what he truly enjoys and serve the community.

In 2011, Dr. Abbas began his fellowship in the field of Rheumatology at Case Western Reserve University at MetroHealth in Cleveland, Ohio. His fellowship was completed in 2013.

We work to make life easier for our patients. Managing the pain and disruptive symptoms of these conditions is difficult enough, so our aim is to provide a one-stop care environment to reduce visits to hospitals and other facilities for treatment procedures. Insurance plans that do not cover infusion therapy in a hospital setting may cover them in a doctor’s office, so this can make treatment far less expensive for patients in long-term care.

An internist who pursues further training in the diagnosis and treatment of what are commonly and collectively referred to as rheumatic diseases, a rheumatologist provides care for patients suffering from a wide range of conditions. Often, these diseases affect joints, muscles and bones to cause swelling, stiffness, pain and sometimes deformity.

Rheumatologists treat autoimmune conditions, which occur when the body mounts response to an unknown trigger. Disability prevention or the recovery of function will also be a focus, along with quality of life concerns and coping systems.
