Job Summary
The Director, External Affairs (Houston Region) leads the development and execution of Digital Equity and Community Impact strategies for the region.
Job Description
THE ROLE
The Director is responsible for establishing and executing on an overarching Digital Equity strategy for the Houston Region, including:
• Creating, advancing, and evaluating strategies, partnerships, and advocacy/communications efforts that differentiate Comcast in the Houston Region and enhance the company’s position as a leader in digital equity, and
• Leading Houston-area engagement, adoption and activation efforts for the Company’s core digital equity programs including Internet Essentials, Internet Essentials Partner Program, Lift Zones, RISE, and various government stimulus programs supporting broadband adoption.
The Director is also responsible for establishing and executing on a Community Impact strategy for the Houston Region, including:
• Identifying key community partners who align with the Company’s Foundation guidelines, and working collaboratively to develop and write strong grant proposals that meet Comcast’s core funding areas,
• Managing the Foundation grant process for the Houston Region, working closely with WD and HQ partners,
• developing speeches and speaking points for community events and positioning the Company as a good corporate citizen,
• Identifying areas of intersection between Comcast Houston and key community partners and aligning around the company’s business and Community Impact, Digital Equity and DE&I goals,
• Overseeing large signature events with community partners and stakeholders, as appropriate,
• Directing the Region’s nonprofit Board and Chamber of Commerce engagement, and
• Leading the Comcast Cares year-round employee engagement program including volunteerism, Comcast’s matching gifts program and connecting employees to community leadership opportunities.
The Director will amplify and elevate the work of digital equity and community impact initiatives in the Houston Region and work collaboratively with the Houston Region’s Director of Government Affairs and Director of External Communications roles, as well as West Division and HQ Digital Equity, Community Impact, External Affairs, Communications and Government Affairs, and other teams.
DESIRED PROFILE
This role must have – and be able to convincingly articulate - a vision for how a strong and coordinated focus on digital equity and community impact can both advance the business interests of the region and elevate the company’s brand – externally with customers and key stakeholders, and internally with employees.
S/he should demonstrate exceptional organizational, relationship building and communication skills. S/he should be a driver and be comfortable multi-tasking. The successful candidate will be able to work with cross-functional team members at HQ and WD to drive strategy, build and manage program plans, identify and secure resources, and develop tools and systems needed to meet strategic commitments. S/he will be comfortable with ambiguity, but detail oriented in nature.
S/he should be a creative thinker, demonstrate ability to develop and execute on strategies, and have a proven record of accomplishment in execution under aggressive schedule demands and competing priorities.
Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills are strongly desired and program administration and industry experience is a plus.

Key Role Responsibilities
• Serves as Houston External Affairs lead for digital equity strategy development and associated initiatives
• Serves as Houston External Affairs lead for community impact strategy development and associated initiatives
• Builds strong relationships with internal business leaders, working to keep them informed about key developments in the digital equity and community impact space
• Develop and manage Houston region KPI’s and align with WD EA and HQ in this regard
• Plan and monitor the progress of digital equity and community impact strategies to ensure smooth forward progress
• Budgeting, forecasting and reconciliation
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years of external affairs, communications or related experience
• Demonstrated experience successfully developing and executing on digital equity and community impact strategies
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing complex projects and initiatives
• Demonstrated experience and strong skills related to advising and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver exceptional work
• Should enjoy working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong work ethic and consistently takes initiative
