I am the owner and director at Tempo School of Music, and I really love teaching guitar. I have been playing and teaching guitar in the Houston area for over 25 years. I teach guitar to beginners, intermediate and advanced players. I teach most styles of music including Classic rock, Metal, Blues, Country, Classical, Fingerstyle, Bluegrass, R&B, Pop, and Jazz. My goal as a teacher is to get my students playing and enjoying music as soon as possible! I have many students that have gone on to be professional musicians. Whatever instrument you and your child wish to play we have it here: Piano, Drums, Violin, Voice (Singing), electric & acoustic Guitar, and Bass Guitar all taught under one roof.

All of our lessons are private and once a week (or more) for any instrument. A one-on-one session that can be from 30 mins, 45 mins, or 1-hour.

We offer 3 group lessons: Mommy & Me class, Contemporary Worship Vocal Ensemble, and band.

Our amazing instructors teach their lessons according to the students music goals, preference of genre, music level, and with an interactive and fun way that all students will enjoy.

Our music program is design for students of all ages, from 4 years old to adults. It covers all levels of musicianship from beginners to advance.

Every parent wants to know how their child is progressing. That’s why, twice a year, we present our formal recital, where the students are the BIG Stars of the concert. Each performance is followed by a beautiful reception with delicious variety of appetizers and desserts. All the students get to celebrate their big accomplishment with their family and friends. Bring your family and friends to enjoy these fantastic performances.

Signing up is easy and parent-friendly, with helpful staff at the front desk six days a week to serve you. Because we only offer lessons on a month-to-month basis, there are no larger upfront payments, no complicated contracts, no annual material, and no semester minimums.

My name is Troy Nicar and I’ve been playing drums and teaching drum lessons in Houston and surrounding areas (Sugar Land and Katy, TX) since 1978. All I do is play and teach drums.
